“First Light, Gunsmoke, Bayonets, and Texas History”
2019
The Battle of the Alamo began on the morning of March 6th 1836. This painting shows the north wall of the Alamo Fort, where some of the most desperate fighting occurred. Nearly seven hundred Mexican Army soldiers attacked this wall and it was one of the first to fall. At the back of the scene, defensive gunfire from the cannons at the rear of the church light up the historic Alamo church.
This masterful print combines Yena’s intricate attention to historical detail with his evocative use of light and color. From the tendrils of gunsmoke curling into the morning sky to the gleam of bayonets catching the first rays of sunlight, every element of this artwork speaks to the heroism and human spirit of those who stood their ground against impossible odds.
An essential piece for history enthusiasts and art collectors alike, this work is not just a portrayal of a moment—it is a tribute to the enduring legacy of Texas. Display it proudly as a reminder of bravery, resilience, and the cost of freedom.
